Barbados Wedding Resorts

Getting married in Barbados is very simple as the legal requirements are minimal, and there are no minimum residency requirements. Shortly after your arrival on the island, you will need to visit the Ministry of Home Affairs in Bridgetown to obtain a marriage license. This is the only official and mandatory duty required. The cost for a Barbados Marriage License is US$75 plus a stamp duty cost of US$13.

Marriage Requirements:

• Valid passport, or the original or certified copy of the applicants' birth certificates and identification cards.
• If either party was married previously and widowed, a certified copy of the marriage certificate and death certificate in respect to the deceased spouse.
• If either party was divorced, an original Decree Absolute or certified copy of the Final Judgements, NOT the Decree Nisi.
• All documents not in English must be accompanied by a translation certified by an authorised Notary Public (NOT a Justice of the Peace).
• A letter from the marriage officer who has agreed to perform the marriage ceremony.
• Persons under the age of sixteen cannot be legally married in Barbados.
• For persons between the ages of sixteen and eighteen, the consent of both parents must be obtained and both parents must be present at the time of application.
• Persons eighteen years and older do not require parental consent.
