| Location and Transfer Information |
| About 8 miles north of Cancun yet a world away, Isla Mujeres is home to the exclusive Unik Island Resort & Spa. Situated on the island's southern tip, UNIK guests arrive at Cancun International Airport. From the airport, a hotel-arranged car service whisks you to UNIK's Dockside VIP Registration/Reception Lounge. Guests are greeted at the dock and offered complimentary premium bar, champagne, coffee, tea and snacks before boarding the private yacht service that transfers them to the resort's private dock on Isla Mujeres (weather permitting the yacht will dock at the hotel's private docking pier), then transportation by private van to the resort. The exhilarating, 25-minute boat ride offers breathtaking views of Cancun across the sparkling Caribbean Sea.
Private and charter yachts may access the resort using the neighboring Blue Bay Club Marina, just minutes over water from the Resort. This is an official Mexican Port of Entry providing the convenience of onsite Customs and Immigration Services. |

| A Special Place Called Isla Mujeres |
| The special feeling one gets on the island was first experienced by the indigenous Maya of the Yucatan Peninsula. They believed the island to be sacred and devoted themselves to the worship of Ixchel, goddess of the moon and fertility; UNIK's guests may still visit remnants of her temple not far from the resort. Then, at the time of Spanish expansion in the New World, conquistador Fernando Hernandez de Cordoba's ship was blown off course in 1517, and he stumbled upon these shores. Seeing only women and temples with idols of female deities, he named it "Isla Mujeres", Spanish for "Island of the Women". The story is told that de Cordoba saw no men because "...they were all out fishing...." |
