The resort has developed a comprehensive Sustainable Tourism Program: recycling all possible items. Soaps and shampoos used in the villas are organic and biodegradable, and only biodegradable cleaning products are used by the maids and in the kitchen. Guests are asked to cooperate in reducing the quantity of linen laundered daily. They dry laundry outdoors in the sun whenever possible. A natural wastewater treatment system uses bacteria to break down waste. Solar lighting is installed along the walkways. Kitchen and garden waste is used as mulch for the soil. A vast majority of the resort site has been enhanced with a wide variety of tropical plants and fruit trees that attract birds, iguanas and butterflies.
