Kids and Family at Caneel Bay, St John

Kids and families are welcomed and cherished at Caneel Bay. For children, vacation means being active, making friends and learning new skills. For parents, it's knowing your child is in safe hands with experienced and fun-loving and caring staff. At Turtle Town, Caneel's complimentary children's center for kids 3 to 12 years old, creative arts and crafts, an array of exciting activities and themed days ensure that children will leave with precious memories and souvenirs of their Caribbean family vacation.

Each day features a different theme, and activities are planned with the children at the beginning of the day. The staff is flexible and focused on providing a fun and educational day for every child. An evening program features a supervised children's dinner and a movie, held Monday through Saturday from 6:30pm - 9:30pm at Turtle Town. Advanced sign-up at the Activities Desk is required by 3:00 p.m. Your child's dinner order will be taken at that time.

Hours
Open 9:00am - 4:30pm and 6:30pm - 9:30pm with advanced sign-up Monday through Saturday.
Closed Sundays
Registration takes place daily between 9:00-10:30am. Special dietary requests or information about particular needs is requested at this time. Afternoon registration takes place between 1:00-2:00pm. Each day, parents are required to sign a registration form for children before the program begins, as well as indicating their intended location for the day. A parent must accompany their child at all water sports activities.

Dining
Lunch is served at the Beach Bar (or at Turtle Town) for children participating in the morning and full-day programs. The Beach Bar, Caneel Beach Terrace and the Equator have a children's menu available. Children under 8 years of age are welcome at the Equator, Caneel Bay Terrace and Caneel Bay Bar. When dining at Turtle Bay Estate House, children must be eight or older to dine in the restaurant, with the exception of Dec. 18-Jan. 2, when children of all ages are accepted.

Family-Friendly Designated Accommodations
Rooms south of Cottage Point have been set aside for families with children 7 years of age and younger. These rooms include Courtside, Tennis Garden, Ocean View, Beach Front and Premium types of accommodations. For safety purposes, families with young children are requested to use Caneel Beach and Little Caneel Beach.

Schedule
Caneel's Turtle Town's day programs are complimentary. Charges apply for babysitting services, meals and the evening Dinner and a Movie program.
-Full-day: Includes a.m. and p.m. snacks, juices and lunch; 9:00am - 4:30pm
-Half-day a.m.: Includes snacks and juice; 9:00am - 12:30pm
-Half-day p.m.: Includes snack and juice; 1:00pm - 4:30pm
Dinner and a Movie: 6:30pm - 9:30pm

Caneel Companions
Caneel Companions (babysitters) are available during the day for children too young to join in Turtle Town. Companions are also available in the evening for all children. There is a 3-hour minimum charge at prevailing rates. Reservations should be made at Turtle Town or the Activities Desk. Arrangements should be made as early as possible, with a minimum of one day in advance.

*CHILDREN'S POLICY
Children of all ages are welcome year round at Caneel Bay. For guests wishing to enjoy serene relaxation, two of Caneel Bay’s quietest beaches, Scott and Paradise, and their respective rooms (Premium Beach Front & Cottage 7) are reserved exclusively for guests 12 years and older except during the traditional holiday periods (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter).

The following are 2013 dates that children under 12 are permitted on Scott Beach, Paradise Beach and Cottage 7:

• Christmas: December 18, 2012 – January 3, 2013
• Easter: March 21 – March 31, 2013
• Thanksgiving: November 22 - December 2, 2013

*Children under eight years of age are not permitted to dine in the Turtle Bay Estate House.
*Please note, “Turtle Town,” the children’s program, is open year round. The program may close during very low periods of occupancy, but counselors will be on hand for individual sessions
