Activities and Recreations at Hacienda Guachipelin Hotel, Rincon de la vieja, Guanacaste

The Hacienda Guachipelin Hotel offers horseback riding, canopy tours, tubing the rapids of the Río Negro, a number of hiking trails, natural hot water springs, rappelling the canyons and waterfalls, hiking the virgin forests with assorted birds, mammals, reptiles and insects and relaxing in therapeutic volcanic mud pools. • National Park Tour & Rio Negro Springs Hike the trails around the National Park and observe steam vents, boiling mud and water and very diverse vegetation. Once at the springs (embedded in the tropical dry forest) take a natural sauna for about fifteen minutes; then apply the volcanic mud on your skin, let it dry and shower it off; then relax in the thermal water pools; complete the treatment with a cold shower.
• Río Negro Tubing Adventure Tour After a 45 min. horseback ride through the forest and a short security/instruction briefing, take a short walk to the foot of the Victoria waterfall, where the 2 hr. tubing adventure begins.
• Canyon Canopy Tour, just a short walk from the hotel’s “Adventure Centre”. The canopy is the only one in the country that takes you into a canyon and over a turbulent river. You’ll enjoy 12 cable “rides”, 24 platforms, 2 climbing walls, a hanging bridge, a canyon rappel, swing seats and plenty of thrills, all set in a majestic canyon. Observe a variety of vegetation, birds, mammals, reptiles and more.

Rincón de la Vieja National Park
Located in the northwestern area of the country, Rincon de la Vieja Volcano National Park is Guanacaste's most diverse national park and one of the four more visited national parks in Costa Rica. The park is known for its impressive diversity of flora and fauna and is home to two volcanoes, the Rincon de la Vieja and the Santa Maria. It is also home to the most diverse natural exhibit of secondary volcanic activity. There are fumaroles, vapor vents, sulphur vents, boiling mud pots, roaring little craters, fumarolic lagoons and waterfalls that form blue lagoons. This national park is also home to more than 200 bird species, 3 species of monkeys, several reptiles and mammals. All of this is visible on the different trails in the park. PLUS, the park is located just over an hour away from the most popular Guanacaste beaches, like Papagayo, Tamarindo and Potrero. The park is easily accessible all year round.
