Bajan Whirl Island Tour

 
Explore one of the most beautiful islands of the Caribbean from North to South on this complete Barbados tour and take in the history of the cradle of rum by visiting some of its main tourist attractions. Barbados is an exotic tropical island immersed in history at every turn, and what better way to open your eyes into it than with Bajan Whirl Island Tour! Kick off your adventure along the west coast to the northern region of the island, and enjoy of Barbados’ interior during the ride through the sugar cane fields. Take a glimpse into the past as you head to St. Nicholas Abbey, an old sugar plantation from the 18th century with its own rum distillery. Up ahead, make your way towards Cherry Tree Hill, a village situated over 800 feet above sea level that invites you to enjoy remarkable panoramic views. Later, you’ll visit Morgan Lewis Windmill, a historical monument of Barbados and the only working sugar cane up to now. Finally, it’s time for a delicious lunch and a drink before driving to Bathsheba, the main fishing village in Barbados. You’ll also visit St. John’s Church, one of the oldest churches in the island. During the journey back, take a short look at the Codrington College, a former sugar cane plantation, now a theological college of the Anglican Church. Your adventure concludes at Oistins after a nice ride through the South Coast.

This tour begins with a visit to the charming Clifton Hall Great House, a historical landmark in Barbados that in 1656 belonged to Ferdinand Paleologus, a direct descendant of Constantine, the last Greek Emperor. After exploring the plantation house, you’ll be guided to the mansion interior where a double entrance staircase paved with Italian marble tiles is the only proof of the elegant Georgian architecture style that still remains. Also, you’ll have the chance to regard a collection of delicate antiques and exceptional works made by Barbadian artists. Last but not least, pay a visit to Barbados Foursquare Rum Distillery, owned by the Seale family and whom for over 4 generations have been known as the island’s expertise on producing this sweet tropical liquor.
