Activities and Recreations at Riu Merengue, Puerto Plata

Riu Merengue offers a wide assortment of activities and entertainment for children and adults including three lighted tennis courts, aqua aerobics, water polo, volleyball, bocce ball, shuffleboard, ping pong, darts and a variety of organized activities throughout the day. Four pools provide hours of day time options for the whole family, and non-motorized water sports including kayaks, hobie cat sailboats, boogie boards and snorkeling gear are included for all guests. Workout at the gym, then visit the Renova Spa for a day of pampering.

Effective May 1, guests will not have the option to access facilities at Riu Bachata.

Other activities can be arranged including water skiing, fishing, banana boating, horseback riding, and nearby golf.

"Viva Dominicana" Activities
Riu Merengue will be offering several “Viva Dominicana” inclusions that will enhance customer’s vacation experience. Activities taking place during the week include:

• Coconut party, including cocktails such as "Coco Loco" served in the husk, on the beach.
• Dominican Fair.
• Zona Criolla & Arte Dominican confections and Frio Frio tasting.
• "Dominican Night” traditional Dominican fare along with Sancocho and Mamajuna tasting.
• Joyería Lariamber Jewelry making exhibition.
• Obsession Cigar Shop: Live cigar rolling.
• Merengue and Bachata lessons at 11 a.m. on the beach, and at 4 p.m. poolside.
• Diving lessons in the pool.
• Beach volleyball.
