Situation and Action [S&A]

Update January 13:
In response to COVID-19, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC] has announced that the requirement of a negative COVID-19 test will be expand to all air travelers entering the U.S. starting January 26, 2021. Travelers are required to get a test within 3 days of their departure time and provide their negative test results [paper or electronic copy] to the airline.

Vacation Express currently has a tab with a list of In-Destination Testing locations, but most are related to PCR testing whereas all viral tests, including rapid tests, will be accepted. We are working with our teams in-destination to provide more information in regards to rapid test locations and hotels who will be able to provide quick and easy on-site testing.

According to the CDC guidelines, if you have recently recovered from COVID-19 and are not experiencing any symptoms, it is not recommended that you get tested again in the 3 months after a positive test. If you have met the criteria to end isolation you should travel with a copy of your positive test result and a letter from your doctor or health department that states you have been cleared for travel.

If you wish to change your travel dates you can do so before February 15 with no VE change fee. Hotel or airline fees may still apply. Please continue to check this page for the latest information and any change or cancellation policy updates.

If your final payment due date is between January 13 and January 23, 2021 we will extend your final payment due date to January 24, 2021.

The final payment dates in your reservation will not be updated, and automatic notices will still deploy alerting travelers that final payment is due. Please ignore these and know that you have until January 24, 2021 to make your payment. Any reservations that haven't been paid in full by the end of day on January 24 will automatically be canceled on the January 25 [without additional notice, refunds or credits].

A: Until February 15, 2021 we will waive Vacation Express change fees for travelers who want to change their reservation to a future travel date. Hotel or airline fees may still apply. This waiver will not count as the complimentary change included in VPP and VPP+. You can call our Contact Center at 1-800-309-4717 to make your one-time change.

Please note, this is valid for any change made 7+ days prior to your original travel dates. Airline/hotel/feature penalties and charges apply. Bookings are non-changeable within 6 or less days prior to travel. Departure date and number of nights must remain the same. If a hotel is NOT closed out due to COVID-19, a $50 per person change fee will apply to hotel changes, per our Terms and Conditions. If your new hotel has a higher price than your original hotel then the extra balance is your responsibility.
A: In response to COVID-19, destinations, airlines and hotels may make last-minute changes to ensure compliance with new guidelines related to social distancing. These changes may include changes to flight schedules, destination entry requirements, hotel reopening dates and hotel services and amenities. We highly recommend you visit your air carrier's website frequently to verify your flight schedule and to sign up for travel alerts. This is to ensure that you receive the most up-to-date flight information such as schedule changes and safety precautions. Please visit the Destination Updates and Hotel Updates tabs for current reopening dates and any other details.

PLEASE NOTE: Since circumstances change frequently, new policies and procedures are only effective the date they are implemented. Any changes made prior to this date will not be adjusted.

Vouchers and Rebooking

The vouchers referenced below were vouchers that were issued as part of our Relaxed Cancellation program, and vouchers will be noted as such on the voucher.

A: A Relaxed Cancellation future travel voucher is an e-voucher that will be emailed to you approximately 7 days after you cancelled your booking. Vouchers issued between March 10–October 31, 2020 are valid for travel until December 31, 2022 and can be used for a deposit on your next trip. Please note, this applies to vouchers issued due to our Relaxed Cancellation policy and does not apply to vouchers issued when canceling with purchased insurance.

A: It is up to each of the travelers, but at least one name on the reservation must stay the same. There are no penalties or change fees to replace other names on the voucher. Please note, this applies to vouchers issued due to our Relaxed Cancellation policy and does not apply to vouchers issued when canceling with purchased insurance.

A: If you don't use the full value of the voucher the balance will not be refunded, but you can upgrade your hotel or room category to maximize the value of your voucher. Since it is valid until December 2022, you can use the balance for a trip at a later time. Please note, this applies to vouchers issued due to our Relaxed Cancellation policy and does not apply to vouchers issued when canceling with purchased insurance.

A: It's just two easy steps to redeem your voucher:

  1. Make your booking online or call our Contact Center. Your voucher is valid for any hotel-only booking or package including airfare.
    • If your booking includes commercial airfare, please make your booking Monday-Friday as airfare must be ticketed the same day.
    • If your booking is hotel-only or includes a Vacation Express exclusive, non-stop flight, you may book any day.
  2. After you book, email paywithvoucher@vacationexpress.com with your new booking number and original booking number to apply payment.

Please note: You must email your booking number and voucher no later than 5:00pm ET Monday-Friday to ensure voucher payment is processed to secure your booking. If your voucher does not cover the deposit amount of the new booking the balance must be paid immediately in order for the booking not to cancel.

Important: If the value of your voucher includes a bonus credit, this credit will be deducted from the gross selling price of the booking and will not get applied as a payment. Please ensure that when you make your new booking, you send yourself an invoice that shows the original gross selling price. Once VE has adjusted the price a new invoice will be emailed to you showing the reduced gross amount. The balance of your voucher value will then be applied as a payment.

A: If you did not use your insurance to cancel then you can transfer it to your new booking. If you used your insurance to cancel then it cannot be transferred, but a new plan can be added when you rebook. Effective July 21, 2020 Vacation Express announced new vacation protection plans. A: Under normal circumstances Vacation Express would assist you with booking the new package, even though it is time consuming for us. Under current circumstances, with the hold times the airlines have and with our Air Department extremely busy, we do not have the ability to handle that for you and ask that you rebook the airline ticket with the airline directly.

Antigua In Antigua, travelers arriving by air will be required to present a valid, negative Polymerase Chain Reaction [PCR] test completed no more than 7 days prior to travel. Click here for more information. Travelers must complete a Traveler Accommodation form before arrival.
Aruba In Aruba, all travelers have the option to submit a valid, negative Polymerase Chain Reaction [PCR] test completed no more than 72 hours prior to travel (results must be uploaded at least 12 hours prior to departure time) OR take a PCR test upon arrival to the airport, at their own expense. Bahamas In the Bahamas, all arriving travelers are required to submit a valid, negative Polymerase Chain Reaction [PCR] test completed no more than 5 days prior to travel. Travelers must also apply for a Bahamas Health Travel Visa at travel.gov.bs and complete a daily online health questionnaire for symptom tracking purposes. If guests are staying longer than 5 days then they will be required to take a COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test on day 5 of their visit. Barbados In Barbados, all arriving travelers aged 6 years and older are required to submit a valid, negative Polymerase Chain Reaction [PCR] test completed no more than 72 hours prior to travel. Travelers are also required to remain on property at preapproved accommodations until they have a second negative test 5 days after their first test. Once travelers have acquired their second negative test they are free to travel off property. Click here for more information.
Cancun No requirements
Costa Rica For Costa Rica, all travelers will have to follow these requirements:
  • Complete the online form found at https://salud.go.cr.
  • Purchase travel insurance that covers accommodation in case of quarantine and medical expenses for acute illness.
    • The purchased travel insurance must also be shown upon arrival to prove that the policy is active during their stay in Costa Rica and that it covers medical costs related to COVID-19 for a minimum of USD$50,000.

Cozumel No requirements
Curacao In Curacao, all arriving travelers aged 7 years and older are required to submit a valid, negative Polymerase Chain Reaction [PCR] test completed no more than 72 hours prior to travel. Within 48hrs of departure, travelers must visit dicardcuracao.com to complete the digital immigration card, fill out the digital Passenger Locator Card [PLC] and submit their negative results. Travelers are also required to travel with printed documentation of their negative test results and completed PLC. Click here for more information.
Dominican Republic In the Dominican Republic, travelers entering will not be required to submit a negative PCR test. All arriving passengers will pass through a heat/temperature sensor upon arrival. If a passenger shows an elevated body temperature they are pulled for further investigation and may incur a rapid test. All travelers will also be granted a complimentary, temporary travel assistance plan that will include coverage for emergencies, telemedicine, lodging for prolonged stays and costs for changing flights in the event of an infection. This will be provided for all travelers through April 30, 2021.

As of January 1, 2021, all travelers arriving to and departing from the Dominican Republic are required to fill out the mandatory digital entry and exit forms found at https://eticket.migracion.gob.do. Physical forms will no longer be accepted. Once completed, 2 QR codes will be generated to present at the airport on arrival and departure. It is recommended travelers complete these forms 72hrs prior to departure and keep a printed or screenshot version on hand while traveling. The digital forms can be completed prior to traveling or at the airport, but travelers will need to have the QR code available when passing through Customs in the DR. Please note, there have been technical difficulties when completing the forms using Safari on Apple devices, so it is recommended to try different web browsers or devices. Grenada In Grenada, travelers from the U.S. are required to present a valid, negative Polymerase Chain Reaction [PCR] test completed no more than 72 hours prior to travel. Hotel guests are required to stay on property for 4 days after arrival. On their fourth day, travelers must complete a negative PCR test. All travelers are required to pay a one-time, COVID test fee of USD$150, which will cover the day 4 test or any other test taken while in-destination. Travelers must also have travel insurance covering COVID-19 and any related illness or declare that they will bear the cost of treatment and isolation if they test positive for COVID-19 on arrival. All travelers, regardless of risk assessment, must submit a Health Declaration Form, register on Grenada's Contract App and submit a Pure Safe Travel Authorization Certificate at least 48 hours prior to departure. Jamaica In Jamaica, travelers arriving from the U.S. will be required to present either a negative Polymerase Chain Reaction [PCR] OR Antigen test on arrival to the airport. Children aged 11 years or younger will not be required to present a negative test. Please note, travelers are no longer required to upload their negative test prior to arrival. Travelers are still required complete the mandatory Travel Authorization form AND receive government approval before departing. Approval will be sent to you immediately after completing your Travel Authorization, and you must present this approved form upon departure from the U.S. We urge you to visit VisitJamaica.com for more information.
Los Cabos No requirements
Panama In Panama, all arriving travelers will be required to present a negative Polymerase Chain Reaction [PCR] or antigen test taken no more than 48 hours prior to arrival time. If their test was taken more than 48 hours prior to arrival, then the traveler will be required to take a rapid test at the airport at their own expense. Click here for more information.

Riviera Maya No requirements
Sint Maarten/Saint Martin In St. Maarten and St. Martin, all arriving travelers ages 10 years and older from the U.S. are required to submit a valid, negative Polymerase Chain Reaction [PCR] test completed 5 days prior to travel OR a negative antigen test within 48 hours of travel. Travelers are also required to complete a health declaration prior to arrival at www.stmaartenentry.com and travel with a copy. As of January 1, 2021, all arriving travelers to St. Maarten are required to purchase the St. Maarten Visitors Protection Plan for $30 per person. Saint Lucia In Saint Lucia, travelers aged 5 years and older are required to present a valid, negative Polymerase Chain Reaction [PCR] test completed no more than 7 days prior to travel. Travelers aged 18 years and older must submit a Travel Registration Form to their hotel once their flight reservations are confirmed. This must be completed at least 7 business days prior to travel. St. Thomas All arriving travelers aged 5 years and older are required to submit a valid, negative Polymerase Chain Reaction [PCR] test completed no more than 5 days prior to travel. Travelers must complete the online Travel Screening Portal within five days of travel. Click here for details on new travel requirements.
Turks & Caicos All arriving travelers aged 10 years and older are required to submit a valid, negative Polymerase Chain Reaction [PCR] test completed no more than 5 days prior to travel. In-Destination COVID Testing Sites

Effective January 26, the CDC announced that the requirement of a negative COVID-19 test will be expanded to all air travelers entering the U.S. We have created a pre-approved list of testing sites across our destinations as well as which hotels are offering on-site testing for free or at a cost

Even though some hotels initially have limited travel dates, we anticipate that in the near future those may be extended or will be offered at a nominal fee. For anyone that needs to extend their stay due to a positive test, there are a variety of options including free accommodations, reduced cost accommodations, complimentary insurance and nominal fee insurance.
